1. Our Privacy Approach

Shabbat Unplugged is designed to be simple and privacy-conscious.

Our website widget is intended to display a Shabbat and Jewish holiday closure screen. It is not designed to place advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or behavioral tracking cookies on your visitors.

"No advertising cookies" does not mean "no data collection." The widget does make network requests to our servers, and those requests are described in section 7 below.

We collect only the information needed to operate, secure, support, bill, and improve the Service.

2. Information We Collect From Account Users

When you create an account or use the dashboard, we may collect:

3. Website and Widget Information

When our widget runs on a participating website, we may process limited technical information needed to determine whether the closure screen should appear.

• Approximate location information if needed for timing mode
• Shabbat or holiday timing status
• Basic technical logs for security, debugging, and abuse prevention
• Minimal operational events, such as widget loads and badge clicks

We use this information to operate the closure screen, enforce domain restrictions, troubleshoot issues, and prevent unauthorized use.

4. Location Information

Depending on the customer’s selected settings, the Service may use location information to calculate Shabbat and holiday times.

Location modes may include:

• Business location
• Visitor location
• Strict worldwide mode

For business location mode, we use the business location provided by the website owner.

For visitor location mode, we may use approximate location signals, such as IP-based location, where available.

We do not use visitor location information for advertising or retargeting.

5. Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe may process payment and device information under its own privacy policy.

We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.

We may receive and store limited billing information such as:

• Customer ID
• Subscription ID
• Plan
• Payment status
• Billing email
• Transaction status
• Last payment date
• Subscription renewal or cancellation status

This information is used to manage subscriptions, billing, access, and account status.

6. Done-For-You Setup Information

If you purchase Done-For-You Setup, we may collect:

• Name
• Email
• Phone number
• Website URL
• Platform type
• Booking time
• Setup notes
• Access instructions you choose to provide

If temporary website access is provided, it is used only for setup and support purposes.

We recommend that customers provide temporary or limited access whenever possible and remove access after setup is complete.

7. Storage, Requests and Cookies

Shabbat Unplugged does not place advertising, retargeting, or behavioral tracking cookies through the closure widget, and it does not build religious or interest profiles of visitors. What it does store and send is listed here.

On the visitor’s browser (the widget). The widget sets no cookies. It may write small values to the browser’s local storage on the website you are visiting: the position you dragged the floating badge to, whether you dismissed the badge, a language choice you made, and a diagnostic flag that is off unless it is switched on deliberately. These are preferences, not identifiers, and clearing site data removes them.

Requests the widget makes. To know whether to display the closure screen the widget asks our servers for the website’s settings and for Shabbat and holiday times. It also sends a small operational record so the website owner can see that the installation is working: the install code, the hostname, plan, language, device type (mobile or desktop), and whether the badge and closure screen appeared. It does not send the page address you are on or anything from the page’s web address.

Account and dashboard. Signing in requires essential storage for the login session and security. The dashboard also remembers non-essential layout preferences and, where you arrived through a referral link, a referral source. Referral and preference storage are conveniences, not strictly necessary, and referral attribution is carried in the web address rather than by a tracker wherever we can.

Stripe processes payments and may set security and fraud-prevention cookies during checkout. Those cookies are governed by Stripe’s privacy and cookie policies.

The closure screen does not stop your own website’s cookies or scripts. It is a visual layer displayed above your website. Your analytics, chat, advertising pixels and cookie banners continue to load and run underneath it, and your own consent management must remain available to visitors as your legal advisers require.

Your own website may use its own cookies, analytics tools, chat widgets, advertising pixels, accessibility widgets, or other third-party scripts. Those are controlled by you or your providers, not by Shabbat Unplugged.

8. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide the Service
• Create and manage accounts
• Generate website embed codes
• Display the closure screen
• Calculate timing settings
• Enforce domain restrictions

Do not enable public badges or verification pages if you do not want this information displayed.
